Zeitgeist Automatik – A New Standard of Time

The Zeitgeist Automatik is one of the most technically ambitious models in the Lilienthal Berlin range. It runs on a Swiss automatic movement and is assembled in Germany – a combination that's not taken for granted at this price point. If you want a watch where the mechanics are genuinely central, this is where to start.

What does an automatic movement mean in practice?

An automatic movement has no battery. A rotor converts the motion of your wrist into spring tension – the watch winds itself while you wear it. If you wear it regularly, it asks nothing of you.

The Zeitgeist Automatik uses the Sellita SW200. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), which gives the seconds hand a smooth, fluid sweep. Power reserve of around 38 hours – leave the watch off over the weekend and it'll still be running on Monday. Accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day. The movement is visible through the case back.

Sapphire crystal – why it matters

The Zeitgeist Automatik has real sapphire crystal on the front. Sapphire is the hardest transparent material after diamond and is effectively scratch-proof in everyday use. Scratches from jewellery, work surfaces or general handling simply don't happen. The inner anti-reflective coating ensures the dial stays readable even in direct light.

Made in Germany – what that actually means

The Zeitgeist Automatik is assembled in Germany, not just designed there. Assembly, quality control and final inspection happen here. Practically that means shorter supply chains, tighter control over build quality and a more direct path to repair or service if it's ever needed. At this price point, that's a meaningful argument – and one that shows in the finished product.

Case and finish

The hypoallergenic 316L steel case measures 42.5 mm and makes its presence felt on the wrist.
